The Economic Effects of the Russia-Ukraine War with Spencer Jakab
Thank you to the many members who attended our talk today with Mr. Spencer Jakab on the Economic Effects of the Russia-Ukraine War. Today, Mr. Jakab is an editor of Heard on the Street at The Wall Street Journal, though previously he had written for Lex Column, and the On Wall Street column at the Financial Times. He was also Head of the EEMEA Research at Credit Suisse as well as author of “The Revolution That Wasn’t: GameStop, Reddit and the Fleecing of Small Investors.”
In our talk with Mr. Jakab on August 9th, after a short introduction, we began to discuss the economics of the Russia-Ukraine war. Here, Mr. Jakab discussed the impacts of the war through reading several articles from The Wall Street Journal and analyzing the meanings behind these articles. Mr. Jakab shared with us many of his insights in the current situation, and the impact of other countries other than just Russia and Ukraine. Finally, members were able to ask questions in an interactive Q&A session, and learned much more about what the Russia-Ukraine war meant for the US, in addition to Mr. Jakab’s personal path in finance/economics. Thank you to all the members for attending this event, and thank you to Mr. Jakab for joining us this evening! Be sure to check out his book: “The Revolution That Wasn’t: GameStop, Reddit and the Fleecing of Small Investors,” and we hope you learned a lot today!
