Elizabeth Schropp is an analyst at Morgan Stanley and works in the Office of the Chairman and CEO with James Gorman. She graduated from Georgetown University in 2021, majoring in Mathematics and minoring in Business Administration. Having worked as a summer intern for Morgan Stanley following her junior year, she joined the firm after graduating in 2021.

Robert Khoury is a co-founder and the CEO of Agile Rainmakers—a high impact business development consulting and advisory firm. He has attained a BSE in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University and an MBA in Finance and International Business from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. With over 20 years of experience in finance, Mr. Khoury has served in a multitude of roles, including equity derivatives trader, portfolio manager, corporate strategist, chief operating officer, recruiter, hedge fund executive, and private equity investor. We are beyond excited to be having Mr. Khoury join us on March 11th to speak about receiving and optimizing internships!

Lauren Mack is a freelance journalist who writes about travel, food, and more. Ms. Mack has also spoken about social media, LinkedIn, food writing, and personal branding at Columbia Scholastic Press Association, Modo Labs, and Columbia University. Ms. Mack will be speaking about how to create a successful LinkedIn profile, how to frame past experiences, who to connect with on LinkedIn, how to use LinkedIn to find jobs/internship opportunities, and how to build a resume. The Junior Economic Club of New York City is delighted to host Dean James Nondorf, the Dean of College Admissions at the University of Chicago. He has been Dean of Admissions since 2009, and prior to that he was Dean of Admissions at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Dean Nondorf also served as Associate Director of Admissions at Yale University. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Yale and his Master of Liberal Arts in Ethics from Valparaiso University. Dean Nondorf will be speaking to the JEC about the University of Chicago with a specific focus on its economics programs. NHSMC x JEC NYC: Microfinance with Marcus Berkowitz

At this event, we will hear from Marcus Berkowitz, the Chief Product and Innovation Officer at Grameen America (a nonprofit microfinance organization that provides microloans to help individuals that are living below the poverty line with their business initiatives). Mr. Berkowitz spearheaded Grameen America’s transformation to cashless, paperless, cloud-based and mobile-ready operations, improving their technological innovation and data strategy. Moreover, he played a crucial role in Grameen America’s adjustments to virtual operations throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr. Berkowitz will be speaking to us about the significance of Grameen America's technological development over the years.

Ernie Rogers is both the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Magnetar Capital, an Illinois-based hedge fund. Mr. Rogers has been with Magnetar for nearly 17 years, first joining the Fixed Income team in 2005. He graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Financial Management. He will speak to the JEC about his personal, academic, and professional background, as well as his current responsibilities as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Magnetar. JEC NYC Coffee and Chat

On Sunday, May 22nd, from 4-5 PM the JEC will be hosting its first official Coffee and Chat meeting alongside the Ambassadors! We will be kicking off the event with a game of economic Jeopardy, followed by a casual conversation with fellow JEC members. Feel free to join if you are interested. Note that it is not a firm commitment, and you do not have to attend every coffee and chat after this one. Think of it as a chance to make friends and form relationships with like-minded peers! After the May 22nd meeting, chats will happen monthly throughout the year and attendance is strongly encouraged.

Experiences in Building Companies with Zachary Hamed

Zachary Hamed is the Founder and Co-CEO of Clay, a software startup which helps one be their most thoughtful self within their personal and professional network. Mr. Hamed attended high school at the Collegiate School in New York and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Harvard University. Most recently, Mr. Hamed helped build the product management team for Goldman Sachs’ web platform, Marquee, which caters to institutional clients. Before that he also co-founded a startup in the developer tools space. Mr. Hamed was featured in Forbes’ “30 Under 30” in 2017 for his work with the Goldman Sachs Group.

In our upcoming event with Mr. Hamed, he will share his experiences in building companies, both as a part of a larger institution and independently.

“How Analytics and Research can Address Real-World Problems in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” with Paulo Gaudiano

We are thrilled to announce our upcoming event with Dr. Paolo Gaudiano on March 14th, from 5-6 PM: “How Analytics and Research can Address Real-world Problems in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion”!

Dr. Paolo Gaudiano is President of ARC, Chief Scientist of Aleria and Adjunct Associate Professor at the NYU Stern School of Business. Dr. Gaudiano is also a Forbes contributor on Diversity & Inclusion, and Chairman of the annual Diversity & Inclusion Research Conference. These activities combine Paolo’s decades of experience in business, technology and academia, to transform how people think about diversity and what they do about it, with the ultimate goal of making our society more inclusive and equitable.

Dr. Gaudiano holds degrees in Applied Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering and Computational Neuroscience, and is the recipient of numerous awards including a Moonshot House Fellowship from the Kravis Center for Social Impact (2019), a Young Investigator Award from the Office of Naval Research (1996), and a Neuroscience Fellowship from the Sloan Foundation (1992). He was a tenured faculty member at Boston University and he taught at Tufts University and CUNY before joining NYU.
